Stephanie Lindsey
EMDR Trained,
Sports Therapist in Dallas

Hi! I’m Stephanie. I moved away from my hometown to pursue being a psychotherapist and sport psychologist at the University of North Texas. I got into therapy and sport psychology because of my own journey as an athlete. I had to medically retire (3 hip surgeries) and this led to depression, anxiety, and difficulty coping with my new identity. Despite being at a D1 university, there weren’t great or appropriate resources to support me. I thought to myself, “How is this happening? I lost my sport, my teammates, coaches, stress outlets, and whole life… and there is no one here to help guide me through this? WTF?!” Cue becoming the person I needed.
I started The Therapy Lounge and Performance Center with a home base in Dallas, to meet the need for relatable, down-to-earth, and accountable therapy and sport psych. Traditional therapists don’t understand the inner world of a true high performer; not only do we face mental health challenges, but we face them in the midst of our whole identity and worth systems changing, too. And I haven’t even talked about pressure, anxiety, and managing criticism from the public! It’s a lot. Therefore, I became both. Because we NEED both. Someone who can help you work through anxiety, trauma, burnout, etc. AND help you in and outside of your sport.
I never want another athlete or human to feel alone and stuck. Luckily, I found my own people down the line, too! I met my mentors and a great therapist in 2014. Without them, TLPC wouldn’t exist today. My goals for my clients are to help them thrive even on bad days, set boundaries, fulfill their identity post-sport, help them during their sport, reach goals, and have healthy, meaningful relationships.
In my spare time, you can find me on a walking trail, still kicking ass on the volleyball court, hanging with my cat, Millie, reading a mystery book, hanging out with friends and family, watching the latest trendy show/movie, or at Central Market (I love to cook)!
